Unfazed, but still fazed...because I Hear You

Sometimes you just stumble upon things you did not know about and often times they turn out to be jewels. This happened with me this week when I stumbled upon this Fiction Podcast, which is essentially my type of thing. It would be wrong to say that this is a Podcast because it is an Audio Drama. The Audio Drama I am talking about is called, I Hear You. It’s a Spotify Original and is currently streaming. *huh*

But First: Safety First.

First:

It’s a Speculative Fiction (more appropriately a Crime Fantasy or Supernatural Crime Thriller) Audio Drama, which I have happened to develop a liking for. The Series is about a woman Priyamvada Parmar, who is a Detective in Delhi and after an accident which resulted in her Husband’s death, she starts to hear voices. She’s a Clairaudient, Leave it. At the time of writing this I have listened to the first two episodes (divided into four parts) and just like everyone else who thought it to be just about Voices and Crime, Spoiler Alert – IT’S NOT! ( ̄▽ ̄) *looks at you knowing that you already knew, because I just wrote it*. As the good old talent of storytelling ordains and as ACP Pradyuman has righteously said (because it’s the word of our Lord ACP Pradyuman),

Second:

The Voice Acting is fabulous. Our star Aahana Kumra here fits perfectly into the character of Priyamvada. The second main character is Inspector Viraj, helmed by Hitesh Bhojraj, whom I found a little…out of voice I think I should say. I am impressed by Aahana but Hitesh here just sometimes losses that…feel (मुझे बताना की how did you find the acting). But overall, both the performances are stellar. Annnd of course, how can we forget हमारे प्यारे चौरसिया जी को, our important and entertaining side character, because he’s just what you need with a powerful duo, a perfect complement to Priyamvada and Viraj.

Third:

The episodes are divided into 2 parts of 15 – 20 mins. each which makes an episode run time around 30 – 40 mins. In my opinion that’s a good move.

Fourth:

The background 🎼, it’s mind-blowing.

Although I did find some tune (or music or score, जो भी कहना हो) out of context. Like it didn’t feel right, when I heard that tune, in accordance to the scene. But other than that, everything else regarding the Music is just fantastic.

Fifth:

Last but not the least (at least for me it’s the super important part) is the writing and story. The story is definitely immersive and wanting you to tune to next episode. The writing is fast paced and doesn’t falter in between, as it shouldn’t. The writers, Akanksha Thapliyal and Affy Ali has done an awesome work with the story and I am interested in finding out about well…everything that’s happening with Priyamvada.

And now it’s time for my verdict, which I am pretty sure I am definitely going to listen to this gripping story! And I would suggest you to give a listen to the trailer first (embedded above), if you are confused about giving your precious time, because the trailer will give you a very good idea of what to expect. And well, if you like it, then be my guest.

And now a mandatory but genuine end note. If you liked this Scroll please like, share annnd follow (yes, no subscribe, I learnt from my mistake). Also, if you think that this Scroll and this Stack is worth supporting then well, you are always welcomed to do so. You can also follow me on Twitter as of now where I don’t do much tweeting but a lot of retweeting and liking (and occasionally going to the explore area).

So, this is it for today. I think there’s no space or option for the readers to tell how they feel, give their feedback, what they liked what they didn’t, and I hope that ScrollStack will soon come up with it (and with the option of allowing only constructive criticism and not ज़हर🚬 (and yes cigarette ज़हर का ही काम करती है) or Toxicity for my अंग्रेजी Buddies.

On that note, I will meet you all again someday with a new Scroll,
